July 11, 2011 Experimentation
My last post got me thinking. Sometimes crazy shit comes out of my head when I think. For those of you who areunfortunate fortunate enough to know me in real life, you know that it’s not always a good thing to be on the receiving end of my thoughts.
This time, however, I think I might have an idea that could change. your. life. Seriously.
You mofos know I am Personal Trainer to the stars, an elite group of men and women who entrust me with their hard-earned money to help them get fit. Until recently, my level of service has been average. Sure, I provided awesome workouts and stunning conversation, but something has been missing. That something is the Follow Up. See, I have taken it for granted that once I start training someone that they’re going to ACTUALLY work out. As in- on their own. I guess I think that if they’re paying me hundreds of dollars, they will actually DO what I tell them to do. Not usually so. Unless I bugremind them, and have solutions to their excuses.
So, when Pam the Realtor commented about someone kicking her ass in AZ, I started thinking, “Why not me?” I realized that most of the time, people just need to know what to do and have someone to tell them to do it.
So, here goes my experiment. I need three people who:
- Need to get healthy
- Have little/no motivation
- Have no clue where/ how to start exercising
- Are willing to play by my rules for 6 weeks

Dang it you lost me on that I can’t just want to lose 10 lbs. I do really want to get fit and have next to nil motivation. Will you pick me up anyhow? PWEASE?! I need my ass kicked. I also have no access to a gym, so in that regard I don’t know what to do instead.

Maybe. You have a good argument. Let me see what kind of response I get.

I was already geared up to write “sign me up” when I got to the disclaimer at the end. I need to lose 20 lbs, does that make me a candidate? eh? eh? I already work out too. oh well.

Sorry, Gams. I had you in mind when I put that disclaimer in there.

Maybe I outta change my moniker to “Gams”. I like the sound of that.

I have a glowing recommendation for you as a trainer. Remember that list you made for me during a past pregnancy? I have kept it and was able to do most of it this pregnancy, and I ended up only gaining 1 pound my last two months of my pregnancy. The baby grew and was healthy, but I was losing my bad weight. I am 4 weeks postpartum and already wearing my pre-pregnancy jeans. I am still 20 pounds from my goal wight, but at least I kept off the last ten pounds I usually put on in my pregnancies.
My mother is your perfect candidate, but I don’t know if she would commit. I’ll ask.

I’m with Rena, I’m about 20 lbs over and have zero motivation to actually DO something about it. I don’t regularly work out, but I did but a DVD collection of exercise vids and I stare at that on a daily basis!

What kind of exercise videos do you have? Don’t tell me P90X. That shit is crazy!!

I’m interested but still have no motivation. Can I at least wait until it’s not so hot here? There is no way in hell you are getting me to work out in this heat. I need to loose at least 50 lbs. I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol and last year was diagnosed with diabetes. My dad died a little over a year ago from heart disease and my Mom has gone thru breast cancer. I feel like I’m a ticking time bomb but still don’t want to do anything about it. In general, I’m a mess!
My 24 year old daughter is in the same boat

Is there any time during the day that it’s not super hot? Is there anywhere you could go to exercise that’s indoors? Your house? A gym?
What about your daughter? Is she close enough to be able to do this with you?
You owe this to yourself.

It’s hot 24/7 around here these days. Supposed to be 110 and above all next week again. Our lows are in the high 90’s when it’s that hot. To be honest, I doubt I would go to a gym.
My daughter still lives with us and I know she would do it with me. I’m the one holding her back most likely
